Then you might love glass fusing and the magic of kiln forming as your glass design is transformed into a work of art. \nIn this interactive and hands-on workshop\, you will explore the properties of glass\, basic colour and layering techniques\, as well as how glass is shaped\, fused\, and finished before being kiln fired. Other glass colours are available if you prefer a theme other than “holidays”. \nThere will be lots of time for experimentation and development as you choose your colours and add accents using frit\, stringers\, and nuggets to create your unique pieces of holiday art. Start with either a more realistic or abstract focus in mind and play with acrylics\, collage\, inking techniques and transfers to create a finished work on canvas. \nChoose a theme – I suggest something from the natural world: trees\, plants\, flowers\, forests\, gardens\, the seaside – and bring some images printed from either an inkjet or laser printer. You will find each has different results. Bring a selection of different pictures and sizes to work with. Images may be either black and white or coloured\, or a mixture of both. Note that your final canvas will be a minimum of 12” x 16”. \nThere will be no set formula for a final image\, but guidance will be given if asked for! It uses inexpensive materials and equipment\, requires no press\, and has the unique characteristic of not having to reverse the reference material. The printed image appears just like the original. This simple technique requires no previous experience to produce delightful prints\, whether its monoprints or multiples (an edition).
