Abstract Acrylic Painting Using Strong Compositions

We will harness dynamic compositions to build your abstract paintings into powerhouses of artistic strength and professional quality.

This is an opportunity to create paintings that have internal structure, yet are free and loose. You will explore a combination of freedom with strong composition. You will enjoy learning how you can use traditional compositions to make your abstract paintings achieve something intriguing, yet naturally speak to an innate sense of design.

You will enjoy the exciting paintings that you paint. You will be able to draw on what you have learned and confidently compose your own abstract art works in the future.

3-Styles of Composition

  1. O or Circle Composition
This is a style that may be rectangular or an irregular loose, rough, precise or stylized circle(s). For abstract painting, it is very powerful.
  2. L-Shaped Composition
This composition can be molded to fit the design of the painting that emphasizes both the horizontal and the vertical. It is simpler to work with and can act as a balance and may incorporatea diagonal within the two directions.
  3. The Cross or Cruciform Composition
Abstract artists have embraced this form for its easy-to-adapt unity and ability to structure interest and contrast. Infinite variations are possible and where the lines intersect, it can suggest the important point or center of interest.

Bringing this kind of guideline to your work will be very valuable and you may discover that exact structure that will be the start of a new way of seeing your abstract painting and will allow you to improve in so many fulfilling ways.
