In this class, you will paint on a BLACK canvas that you have prepared in advance with either black gesso or acrylic paint. Jane will issue a reference photo in advance. The class will begin with a sketch of your design using orange paint and discussion of the colour palette. You will paint the lighter values in the morning, and continue by moving into mid and darker values in the afternoon. Jane will do demonstrations and personal critiques while you work on your painting.
Please come prepared with all supplies as on Jane’s materials list. Please prepare your canvas with black gesso or a black acrylic base. Ensure it has had time to dry. Please do a simple sketch of your own before arriving. This will really help you become familiar with the subject before you start painting.
