Drawing Series is more than learning the basics of drawing. Though it does do just that, it also proposes a drawing challenge to all; beginner and experienced alike. This six-session two-hour class series takes an accumulative learning approach.
Learning to Look: We start with the fundamental principles and techniques of drawing, including the elements of shape, line, tone, and light and shadow. After which each class will build on the teachings of the previous session. Class lessons will include:
- comparative sighting
- the study of edges
- 1-pt and 2-pt linear/aerial perspective
- placement of elements/points of view
- line of action
Areas of Study: The fundamentals learned during each class will then be applied to three areas of study:
- sight-based – blocks, still-life, figurative
- photo work – building, landscape, wildlife
- imaginative – cartooning, comic art and sequential storytelling
Week five is a special week, with the entire session being an introduction to figurative drawing. There will be a live model.
Drawing Challenge: In addition to class time work, there will be a significant drawing challenge put forth as assigned homework.
Learn something new. Improve your skills. Wow yourself!
