Drawing Series: Figurative Study is a series of five two-hour classes devoted to drawing the human form. We will work from a live model.

Learning to Look:  Our study of the fundamental principles and techniques of figure drawing will begin with the line of action. Then, we will build upon that simple skeletal structure with “volumetrics.” The timing for the poses will be short at first for quick gesture and contour study. Then, the poses will become longer, allowing for a deeper investigation into complex areas of the human form, such as the face and hands. Each class will build upon the teachings of the previous session.

Class lessons will include:

  • comparative/proportional sighting
  • line quality, employing hard edges and soft turn of form
  • tone and value studies
  • basic anatomy
  • body and face proportions
  • construct of complex human features such as hands and eyes
  • foreshortening
  • short art historical slide presentations

Learn something new. Improve your skills. Wow yourself!
