Artists have been painting with oil paints for hundreds of years and oil paints continue to be popular worldwide due to their versatility, quality, and color.
Learn from one of our favourite local artists, RoseMarie Condon, a professional fine artist, illustrator, photographer, graphic designer and instructor of children and adults, voted City of Kawartha Lakes ‘Artist of the Year’. Gain knowledge of the essentials for the beginning artist, through demonstrations and instruction, with the goal of creating 3 or 4 landscape paintings of your own!
Each class will comprise of a landscape painting demonstration. Instruction will include: oil painting materials and how to work with them on various painting surfaces, types of brushes and their uses, colour mixing and colour theory. You will explore painting concepts, the pros and cons of oil paints and their application with brush and knife, as well as aspects of a sound painting in terms of the use of quality materials. You will also discuss perspective both linear and aerial.
The primary focus will be landscape painting from photo references and sketches, as well as learning the joy of plein air painting. All this, in a relaxed environment, working diligently for 4 afternoons, creating and having fun!
