Molly Moldovan

dystopia (acrylic on canvas)

Molly Moldovan is a visual artist whose primary focus is abstraction. Living and working in the Kawarthas since graduating OCA(D) with honours (fine art, drawing and painting) in 1991, Molly has had solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group shows in public and commercial galleries.

Although much of Molly’s work is based on the landscape in which she lives, it is firmly rooted in abstraction. Multi-layered, colourful, luminous and often fluidly transparent, these works express an idea of landscape mediated by memory, mood and emotion. There is a sense of time and place without overt narrative.

Using acrylic and mixed media on various grounds, Molly’s practice explores such diverse themes as democracy, international politics, the AIDS pandemic, familial relationships and always, the abstract nature of our universe.
